NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced its All-Region honorees Monday for the 2018 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field season and six Gusties received recognition – Michael Hensch (Jr., North Branch, Minn.) and Taylor Rooney (Fy., Andover, Minn.) on the men’s team, and Alex Anderson (So., Sioux Falls, S.D.), Katie Keelin (So., Burnsville, Minn.), Marisa Morgan (Sr., Rockford, Ill.), and Kayla Stowell (Jr., Le Sueur, Minn.) on the women’s squad.
The top-five individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each of the members of the region’s top-three relay teams. The regions used for this award – Atlantic, Central, Great Lakes, Mideast, Midwest, New England, South/Southeast, West – match those used during the cross country and indoor track & field season.
Hensch, who will compete in the shot put and hammer at the NCAA Championships this week, earned All-Central Region in three events – shot put (fifth in region), hammer (fifth), and javelin (third). Rooney is ranked second in the region in the 110-meter hurdles.
Anderson is ranked fourth in the high jump, Keelin is fifth in the hammer, Morgan is fourth in the javelin, and Stowell is second in the 100-meter.
On the men’s side, a total of 743 athletes from 192 programs earned 948 All-Region honors. On the women’s side, a total of 667 athletes from 184 programs earned 940 All-Region honors.
