ST. PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s and women’s track & field teams are set to compete at the MIAC Outdoor Championships this weekend, hosted by Carleton College. The two-day event begins at 2 p.m. Friday with the men’s javelin and the women’s hammer throw and long jump. Saturday’s events begin at 2 p.m. with the women’s javelin and the men’s hammer throw, high jump, and triple jump. Competition will conclude at approximately 7:30 p.m. both days.
The Gustie women enter the MIAC meet with multiple student-athletes ranked in the top-10 of their respective events, headlined by Kayla Stowell (Jr., Le Sueur, Minn.) with the fastest 100-meter time (12.15) and the third fastest 200-meter time (25.34).
The Gustie men also have multiple highly-ranked marks with Michael Hensch (Jr., North Branch, Minn.) and Taylor Rooney (Fy., Andover, Minn.) leading the way. Last year’s MIAC Outstanding Field Athlete after winning both the hammer and javelin, Hensch is currently ranked second in the javelin (183-0), and third in both the shot put (51-8.5) and hammer (189-0).
