MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s track & field team scored 77 points Saturday at the Cobber “Snownami” Open on the campus of Concordia College, good for a sixth place finish out of 11 teams.
Gustie distance runners led the quad, headlined by two first place times. In the 5,000-meter run, Nick Kerbeshian (Fy., Plymouth, Minn.) and Jeremy Gilbertson (Fy., Maple Grove, Minn.) crossed the finish line at 15:53.85 and 16.00.96, respectively.
Andrew Stumbo (Fy., Boone, Iowa) claimed the top crown in the 10,000-meter run at 33:16.03, finishing over five seconds ahead of the runner-up. Alex Wischnack (Jr., Norwood Young America, Minn.) clocked in at 33:27.67 for third place.
Justin Friedrich (Sr., Chatfield, Minn.) was the runner-up in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:45.68.
Additionally, notable finishes came from Ben Madigan (Jr., Kohler, Wis.) and Matthew Montplaisir (So., Buffalo, Minn.). Madigan took a fifth place finish in the 800-meter run, finish just over a second out of first place at 2:01.73, while Montplaisir was fourth in the triple jump, turning in a 19-5.50 leap.
