BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its Athlete of the Week award winner for men’s tennis on Tuesday and Gustavus’s Zach Ekstein (Sr., Eagan, Minn.) was honored with the distinction, the second of his career.

The No. 8-ranked Gusties took down the No. 3-ranked University of Chicago last Friday in West Bend, Wis., in a rematch of last season’s NCAA Central Region championship. Ekstein won both his singles and doubles matches, winning 6-1, 6-4 over Luke Tsai, the No. 3-ranked singles player in the Central Region at No. 2 singles and winning 8-6 at No. 3 doubles with his partner Mason Bultje (Sr., Mankato, Minn.)

The Gusties (16-8, 4-0 MIAC) head back into conference play this Saturday, hosting Carleton College in search of the program’s 300th consecutive MIAC victory, a streak dating back to 1985.
