MANKATO, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s track & field team returned to action on Wednesday, competing at the Minnesota State University Spring Invitational, turning in several notable finishes.
A group of four Gusties in the 5,000-meter run was one of the standout performances. Sadie Klug (Sr., Waseca, Minn.), Olivia Rosenow (Sr., Maple Grove, Minn.), Megan Weaver (Jr., Stillwater, Minn.), and Sarah Anderson (So., Roseville, Minn.) finished first through fourth, respectively. Klug finished nearly 40 seconds of the runner-up Rosenow at 17:58.24, and was over 1:30 ahead of Weaver and Anderson.
Several other Gusties grabbed runner-up finishes. McKayla Stowell (Jr., Le Sueur, Minn.) was the runner-up in the 100-meter dash, crossing the finish line at 12.60. Abbie Schnabel (Jr., Hamburg, Minn.) finished second in the 800-meter run at 2:21.59. DeAnna Giles (Fy., Plymouth, Minn.) was second in the triple jump with a leap of 34-10.25. Alex Anderson (So., Sioux Falls, S.D.) had a 5-3.75 high jump, followed by a third place finish from Tyra Ericson (Fy., Eden Prairie, Minn.) at 5-1.75.
Lily Anderson (So., Waterville, Minn.) finished third in the 400-meter run at 1:02.65. Tierney Winter (So., Waterville, Minn.) finished at 4:56.40 in the 1,500-meter run, good for third.
Marisa Morgan (Sr., Rockford, Ill.) led the Gustie throwers with a first place finish in the javelin at 125-9, the second best throw of her career.
Next up, the Gusties are set to host the Gustavus Invite next Saturday. Events are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
