Men’s Tennis Splits Pair Of Matches Against Ranked Teams Posted on April 6th, 2018 by

CLAREMONT & SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The No. 8 Gustavus men’s tennis team split a pair of matches as a split squad Friday. The top team defeated No. 33 Lewis & Clark 8-1 and the second team lost to NAIA No. 14 Westmont 9-0, moving their overall record to 15-7.

“The guys made very good progress today,” Head Coach Tommy Valentini said. “We played solid doubles in both matches against very talented opponents. Against Westmont the guys fought hard in the singles and handled adversity extremely well. Despite the result they played a great match at a high level and represented our approach very well. Against Lewis and Clark the doubles lead gave us some good momentum and the guys stayed present and very positive in the singles. We are grateful for another day of great outdoor tennis and look forward to another big challenge tomorrow.”

The Gusties wrap up their California spring break trip Saturday against No. 6 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
