CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Gustavus men’s track & field was represented by Michael Hensch (Jr., North Branch, Minn.) and Bobby Verchota (Jr., Hastings, Minn.) at the Drury Hotels Joey Haines Invite at Southeast Missouri State University on Saturday.
Hensch opened his outdoor campaign with a seventh place finish in the hammer throw at 180-02 on Friday, then competed in the javelin the shot put on Saturday.
Among Division I competitors, Hensch had a 183 foot javelin throw to take fourth place. In the shot put, he placed sixth with a throw of 51-6.5.
Verchota took a 13th place finish in the 400-meter run with a time of 52.68.
Next up, Gustavus is set to compete in the Hamline University Invite in St. Paul, Minn. a week from today.
