BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its Athlete of the Week award winner for men’s tennis on Tuesday and Gustavus’s Tommy Entwistle (Jr., Sioux Falls, S.D.) was honored with the distinction.
Entwistle won both his singles and doubles matches against No. 9-ranked Washington University-St. Louis on Saturday, helping the Gusties defeat the Bears for the first time since March 16, 2002. Entwistle and doubles partner Chase Johnson won 8-6 at two doubles, and then Entwistle clinched the match with a third set breaker over Koki Takabatake.
The Gusties (13-5, 4-0 MIAC) have two matches ahead next Wednesday in California, taking on Hope International and Pomona Pitzer.
