Gustie Baseball Drops 12-10 Decision Versus Concordia Nebraska Posted on March 5th, 2018 by

TUCSON, Ariz. – The Gustavus baseball team fell 12-10 versus Concordia University Nebraska Sunday afternoon during day three of the Tucson Invite at Kino Sports Complex, dropping to 2-3 overall on the season.

Concordia Nebraska 12, Gustavus 10

Gustavus tallied 14 hits compared to 12 from the Bulldogs. However, 11 runs for Concordia Nebraska through the first three frames proved to be too large of a deficit for the Gusties.

Torben Urdahl (Fy., Chanhassen, Minn.) received his first collegiate start on the mound and lasted two innings. First-year pitchers (Nick Fischer, Courtland, Minn.) and Damon Rademacher (Princeton, Minn.) also made their collegiate debuts on the mound, relieving Urdahl. Fischer received the loss while tossing four innings, allowing five runs with four strikeouts. Rademacher finished the game with two shutout innings.

Gustavus grabbed a 3-0 lead to start out the game, but the Bulldogs responded with three of their own in the bottom half and added more to claim an 11-3 advantage after three innings. The Gusties came within one run after tallying three in the fourth, one in the fifth, and three more in the eighth.

Cole Pengilly (Fy., Le Sueur, Minn.) led the offensive slugfest for the Gusties, going 5-6 at the plate with two doubles and one run batted in. John Lundquist (Sr., Rochester, Minn.) added two hits with a double and two RBI.

The Gusties conclude their Arizona trip on Monday with a doubleheader versus North Central University. Game one is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start.
