Malo Earns All-American Sixth Place All-Around Finish

The Gustavus gymnastics team was represented by Amanda Malo (Jr., Greenwood, Minn.) in the all-around competition Friday evening during day one of the NCGA Championships at Springfield College. Malo compiled a total score of 37.475 to place sixth and earn All-American status.

Sonnek Earns Second-Straight All-America Award In 100 Breaststroke

For the second consecutive year, Tanner Sonnek (Jr., North Mankato, Minn.) finished seventh in the 100 breaststroke at the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships to earn All-America status. Sonnek touched the wall in 54.85 after posting a preliminary time of 54.95 in the morning session.

Women’s 200 Free Relay Finishes 10th At NCAA Championships

The Gustavus women’s swimming 200 freestyle relay team took 10th place Thursday at the NCAA Division III Championships, earning All-America Honorable Mention status. The team of Kennedy Holwerda (Sr., Willmar, Minn.), Maggie Webster (Jr., Apple Valley, Minn.), Alyssa Lokensgard (So., St. Peter, Minn.), and Kate Reilly (Sr., Hastings, Minn.) clocked a time of 1:33.88 in the consolation final.

Gustie Baseball’s Friday Doubleheader Postponed

The Gustavus baseball team has postponed its home-opening non-conference doubleheader versus Bethany Lutheran College on Friday due to poor weather and field conditions. Its previous set home opener against Mounty Marty last weekend was cancelled due to lingering snow on the field. The games will have a chance to made up at a later date. The Gusties are now off until March 31 when they will host Macalester in the new home opener on the brand-new field turf, which will also mark the start of MIAC play.

Women’s Swimmers Finish Top-25 In Two Events At NCAA Championships

The NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships began Wednesday and the Gustavus women competed in two events. Kate Reilly (Sr., Hastings, Minn.) and Maggie Webster (Jr., Apple Valley, Minn.) raced in the 50 freestyle, while Kennedy Holwerda (Sr., Willmar, Minn.), Reilly, Webster, and Maddy Westendorp (So., St. Michael, Minn.) competed in the 200 medley relay.

Athletics Department Set To Host Fourth Annual “Golden Gusties” Awards Banquet May 14

The Gustavus Adolphus College Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is set to host the fourth annual all-athlete, end of the year banquet entitled the “Golden Gusties” on Monday, May 14 in Don Roberts Ice Rink. The Golden Gusties is an awards banquet celebrating the accomplishments of the College’s athletic teams and its student-athletes over the course of the 2017-18 academic year.

Gustie Baseball Hopeful For Home Opener On Friday

The Gustavus baseball team is set for its home opener versus Bethany Lutheran College Friday afternoon, hosting a doubleheader versus the Vikings at 2:30 p.m. at the newly renovated Gustie Baseball Field with weather and field conditions pending.

Softball Splits With Buena Vista To Wrap Up Tucson Invite

The Gustavus softball team concluded play Monday at the Tucson Invitational, splitting a doubleheader with Buena Vista. The Gusties lost the first game 8-0 and rebounded with a 7-3 victory in game two, improving to 4-10 overall.

Six Gusties To Represent Gustavus At NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships

The Gustavus swimming team will be well-represented at the NCAA Division III Championships this week, which takes place Wednesday through Saturday at the IUPUI Natatorium in Indianapolis, Ind. Kennedy Holwerda (Sr., Willmar, Minn.), Alyssa Lokensgard (So., St. Peter, Minn.), Kate Reilly (Sr., Hastings, Minn.), Maggie Webster (Jr., Apple Valley, Minn.), and Madeline Westendorp (So., St. Michael, Minn.) represent the women’s team, and Tanner Sonnek (Jr., North Mankato, Minn.) represents the men’s squad.
