Track & Field Opens Outdoor Season At Saint Mary’s

With two upcoming meets at Saint John's University and Southwest Minnesota State University being cancelled, the Gustavus men's and women's track & field teams added a meet at Saint Mary's University and are set to compete in the Dingels/Brueggen Open during the outdoor opener on Thursday.

Baseball Reschedules Series, Hosts UM-Morris & Bethany Lutheran Wednesday-Thursday

The Gustavus baseball team is set for its home opener versus the University of Minnesota-Morris, hosting a non-conference doubleheader versus the Cougars at 2:30 from the newly renovated Gustie Baseball Field on Wednesday prior to hosting Bethany Lutheran College on Thursday. The rescheduled doubleheaders will both consist of two seven-inning games.

Women’s Soccer Announces 2018 Summer Camp Dates

The Gustavus women’s soccer team is excited to be hosting two different residential camps this summer. Head Coach Laura Burnett-Kurie and the Gusties will host a Co-Ed Youth Soccer Camp, ages 8-17 (June 24-27), and a high-level High School Girls Camp, grades 9-12 (July 8-11).

Men’s Tennis Wins Three Matches, Highlighted By 5-4 Victory Over No. 9 WashU

The No. 7-ranked Gustavus men's tennis team won all three of its matches Saturday to improve to 13-5 overall and 4-0 in the MIAC. The Gusties defeated Bethel 8-1 and Augustana (S.D.) 6-3 at the Swanson Tennis Center, while the top squad beat No. 9-ranked Washington University-St. Louis 5-4 at the Kings Point Sports Club.

Ardy Takes 16th On Bars At NCGA Championships

The Gustavus gymnastics team and Sam Ardy (Jr., Thousand Oaks, Calif.) concluded competition at the NCGA Championships at Springfield College Saturday with the individual event championships. Ardy placed 16th on uneven parallel bars with a score of 9.550.

Gustie Swimmers Conclude Competition At NCAA Championships

The NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships concluded Saturday as Maggie Webster (Jr., Apple Valley, Minn.) and Kate Reilly (Sr., Hastings, Minn.) swam the 100 freestyle, and Tanner Sonnek (Jr., North Mankato, Minn.) competed in the 200 breaststroke. Webster and Reilly finished the 100 free in 20th and 30th place, respectively, with personal best times of 51.41 and 51.85. Sonnek was disqualified in the 200 breaststroke after the official deemed a turn violation.

Malo Earns All-American Sixth Place All-Around Finish

The Gustavus gymnastics team was represented by Amanda Malo (Jr., Greenwood, Minn.) in the all-around competition Friday evening during day one of the NCGA Championships at Springfield College. Malo compiled a total score of 37.475 to place sixth and earn All-American status.

Sonnek Earns Second-Straight All-America Award In 100 Breaststroke

For the second consecutive year, Tanner Sonnek (Jr., North Mankato, Minn.) finished seventh in the 100 breaststroke at the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships to earn All-America status. Sonnek touched the wall in 54.85 after posting a preliminary time of 54.95 in the morning session.

Women’s 200 Free Relay Finishes 10th At NCAA Championships

The Gustavus women’s swimming 200 freestyle relay team took 10th place Thursday at the NCAA Division III Championships, earning All-America Honorable Mention status. The team of Kennedy Holwerda (Sr., Willmar, Minn.), Maggie Webster (Jr., Apple Valley, Minn.), Alyssa Lokensgard (So., St. Peter, Minn.), and Kate Reilly (Sr., Hastings, Minn.) clocked a time of 1:33.88 in the consolation final.

Gustie Baseball’s Friday Doubleheader Postponed

The Gustavus baseball team has postponed its home-opening non-conference doubleheader versus Bethany Lutheran College on Friday due to poor weather and field conditions. Its previous set home opener against Mounty Marty last weekend was cancelled due to lingering snow on the field. The games will have a chance to made up at a later date. The Gusties are now off until March 31 when they will host Macalester in the new home opener on the brand-new field turf, which will also mark the start of MIAC play.
