MANKATO, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s track & field team competed at the Maverick Invite on the campus of Minnesota State, Mankato Friday, finishing with several strong performances.
“Looking at where the women finished last year, what we’re doing now with a lot of young individuals is starting to put us where we want to be with conference placings,” said Head Coach Dale Bahr. “We continue to see improvement and that is what we’re looking for at this time of year.”
Sadie Klug (Sr., Waseca, Minn.) and McKayla Stowell (Jr., Le Sueur, Minn.) turned in the top finishes for the Gusties, each coming away with runner-up times. Klug finished at 5:21.08 in the mile run, while Stowell 7.76 time in the 60-meter dash is a career-best indoor time and the seventh-best in Division III.
In the high jump, Alex Anderson (So., Sioux Falls, S.D.) improved upon her career-best indoor leap by 3.25 inches, finishing third at 5-4.50, ranking 14th in the nation.
Additionally, Abbie Schnabel’s (Jr., Hamburg, Minn.) time of 2:19.62 in the 800-meter run was good for a career-best indoor time.
