MANKATO, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s track & field team took ninth of 14 teams Saturday at the Ted Nelson Classic on the campus of Minnesota State Mankato, scoring 14.5 points. Minnesota State and Augustana University tied for first place with 122 points each.

“The ladies are young and we had some individuals who had some personal-bests and they were very ecstatic to see that,” said Head Coach Dale Bahr. “They’re going out and competing and I think they’re building some confidence against tough competition. It may not look well in results but we know that we are say the PR’s coming and that’s always a good thing to see.”

Megan Hill (So., Denver, Colo.) turned in the top finish for the Gusties, coming in third place for six team points in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:43.05. Elizabeth Uribe (So., Stockton, Calif.) also scored in the 600m run with a time of 1:54.75, good for eighth place.

Three other Gusties scored points, individually.

In the 1,000-meter run, Tierney Winter (So., Waterville, Minn.) came in sixth place with a time of 3:06.92. In the 800-meter run, Abbie Schnabel (Jr., Hamburg, Minn.) posted a time of 2:23.13 good for seventh place. Finally, Alex Anderson (So., Sioux Falls, S.D.) came in seventh in the high jump with a leap of 5-2.25.

The 4×400-meter relay squad of Lily Anderson (So., Waterville, Minn.), Schnabel, Lydia Hayes (Sr., Decorah, Iowa), and Winter scored a point for the Black and Gold with a eighth place finish, coming in at 4:11.72.

Next up, the Gusties head to Collegeville, Minn. for the Saint John’s Invitational next Saturday.
