RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The Gustavus men’s hockey team came up short at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls Saturday evening at Hobbs Ice Center, falling 3-1 against the Falcons, dropping its overall record to 6-6-3 overall.

UW-River Falls got on the scoreboard first near the midway point of the first period and held on to its one-goal lead throughout the first and second period until the Gusties tied the game early on in the final frame.

The Black and Gold outshot the Falcons 14-10 through the first two periods and prevailed 1:35 into the third period. Jake McCann (Sr., Shoreview, Minn.) tied the game, his second of the season with help from Colton Schmidt (So., Eden Prairie, Minn.), which would be the team’s only goal of the game.

Soon after, UWRF converted on a loose puck around the crease for the go-ahead goal. The Falcons added an empty net goal with seconds remaining to seal the 3-1 win.

Robbie Goor (Fy., Anoka, Minn.) made 21 saves while suffering the loss, moving his record to 2-1-2 on the season.

Gustavus returns to Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action with a series versus the University of St. Thomas.
