ST. PETER, Minn. – The No. 16-ranked Gustavus women’s basketball team travels to New Ulm, Minn. tonight for a non-conference game at Martin Luther College, starting at 7:30 p.m. The Gusties enter the game with a 2-0 overall record, while the Knights are 1-3.

The Series: Tonight’s game marks the 15th all-time meeting between Gustavus and Martin Luther with the Gusties leading the series 11-3. The two teams met in the season opener last year in St. Peter as the Gusties cruised to an 82-50 win. Forward Miranda Rice established strong post play as she recorded a then career-high 26 points to lead the Gusties. Her eight rebounds were also the most on the team. The Gusties scored 48 points in the paint to control post play. The Knights totaled 22 while allowing Gustavus to score 37 points off turnovers. Gustavus then capitalized on the turnovers, leading Martin Luther in fast break points, 8-0. The Black and Gold was also quick to pressure the Knights offense and posted 20 steals in the game. Mikayla Miller added seven steals alone and distributed the ball well, tallying nine assists.
