GREENSBORO, N.C. – The No. 20 Gustavus men’s golf team got off to a rocky start Sunday at the NCAA Division III Preview, carding a 306 in the first round and 311 in the second for a two-round total of 617, which has the Gusties tied for 16th out of 18 teams.

“We got off to a strong start today in the morning round, then hit a couple of speed bumps along the way and didn’t quite recover,” Head Coach Scott Moe said. “We switched courses to the east course in the afternoon, which is much more difficult, and never really got our footing. We are hoping for a much better day tomorrow to move up some spots in an incredibly competitive field.”

Alec Aunan (Sr., Rock Island, Ill.), as he’s done all fall season, led the team with a 75-75-150 and is tied for 38th out of 90 golfers. Carter Czichotzki (Fy., Moorhead, Minn.) is tied for 52nd after shooting a 75-78-153. Chris Captain (Sr., Rochester, Minn.) is tied for 69th with a 76-80-156, Ben Hauge (So., Ramsey, Minn.) is tied for 78th with an 80-78-158, and Joe Foley (So., East Gull Lake, Minn.) is in 83rd after carding an 80-81-161.
