NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has announced the All-Region honorees for the 2017 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field season and three Gusties earned four awards in the Central Region – Michael Hensch (So., North Branch, Minn.) in the hammer throw and javelin, Ed ReMine (Sr., Mantorville, Minn.) in the 400-meter hurdles, and Marisa Morgan (Jr., Rockford, Ill.) in the javelin. Hensch makes his second consecutive appearance on the All-Region Team, while ReMine and Morgan are newcomers to the recognition.
Hensch ranks as the Central Region’s No. 1 javelin thrower with a personal-best and MIAC Championship heave of 206-8, which is more than 20 feet than the nearest competitor. His hammer throw of 182-8 ranks No. 5 in the region and won him the MIAC title as well. ReMine’s 400-meter hurdle time of 54.35 at the MIAC Championships puts him at No. 4 in the region, less than a second off the top runner. And Morgan’s javelin throw of 126-2 at the conference meet puts her in a tie for fifth in the region.
The top five individuals in each event from each region – as well the region’s top three relay teams – earned All-Region distinction. The regions used for this award – Atlantic, Central, Great Lakes, Mideast, Midwest, New England, South/Southeast and West – match those used during cross country and the indoor track & field season. A total of 935 men and 945 women nabbed All-Region honors this outdoor season.
