CHICAGO, Ill. – The Gustavus women’s tennis team’s season came to an end Sunday at the NCAA regional championships, losing 5-1 to No. 9 University of Chicago. The Gusties reached the region title match for the first time since 2010 and finish the season 21-8 overall, while Chicago advances to the elite eight.

Sunday’s match marks the end of two Gustie careers as Michaela Schulz (Sr., Elk River, Minn.) and Cal Carlson (Sr., St. Peter, Minn.) will graduate later this month. Schulz finishes her impressive career 72-44 in singles and 93-27 in doubles. Carlson ends her career with 97 combined wins between singles and doubles.

“I was proud of the effort today, we simply ran into a better team,” Head Coach Jon Carlson said. “The girls have exceeded everyone’s expectations this whole season.”
