HASTINGS, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s golf team wrapped up its regular season by turning in a team score of 333 to finish in seventh of 11 teams at Bellwood Oaks Golf Club on Saturday at the Carleton Invitational.

Sunday’s final round was cancelled due to inclement weather. Carleton College took the title with a team score of 314.

“We just didn’t find a rhythm today,” said Assistant Coach Randy Stuckey. “We seemed to get off the tee okay but our approach shots and short game was not sharp. There was good effort and competitiveness but some day s things don’t come together.”

Mae Meierhenry (Sr., Sioux Falls, S.D.) finished her collegiate career shooting even par on the back nine, turning in a team-low score of 79 to tie for ninth place individually to lead the Gusties.

Jessica Nelson (Jr., Plymouth, Minn.) and Kristen Cash (Fy., Roseville, Minn.) each shot 84 to tie for 24th.

T-32. McKenzie Swenson (Jr., Buffalo, Minn.) – 86

T-37. Mallory Drenttel (Sr., Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) – 87

In addition, Kennedy Sommerfeld (So., Litchfield, Minn.) and Lanie Altmann (Fy., Olivia, Minn.) competed as individuals, turning in scores of 94 and 95.

“The women had a fantastic spring season, one of the best averages on record,” said Head Coach Scott Moe. “I want to give special thanks to seniors Mae Meierhenry and Mallory Drenttel for their efforts over the past four years. They have been great representatives of Gustavus and the rest of our golf program. We can’t thank them enough.”
