On the men’s side, Tanner Sonnek (So., North Mankato, Minn.) looks to defend his 2016 title in the 200-yard breaststroke. Breakout first-years Matt Allison (Fy., Grand Rapids, Minn.) and Logan Bican (Fy., Monticello, Minn.) will also pace the Gusties, Allison owning a MIAC second best 50-yard freestyle time and Bican being an NCAA regional qualifying diver.

The women’s team will look to get back on top after its six-year title streak was snapped last year, as the University of St. Thomas pulled away from the Gusties. Kate Reilly (Jr., Hastings, Minn.) leads Gustavus as the two-time reigning champ in the 100-yard butterfly, and the 2016 winner in the 100-yard freestyle. Hayley Booher (Sr., Warren, Vt.) is seeking her fourth-straight 400-yard individual medley championship along with her third-straight 200-yard individual medley title. Linnea Rizzo (So., Woodbury, Minn.) also returns to defend her top mile time of 17:43.27 in her MIAC Championships debut a year ago.
