ST. PETER, Minn. – The No. 13/20-ranked Gustavus Adolphus College women’s basketball team is set its final regular season road matchup Wednesday evening as they head to St. Paul, Minn. to take on St. Catherine University. The 22-1 (15-1 MIAC) Gusties are set to tip off against the 15-8 (9-7 MIAC) Wildcats at 7 p.m.

Last time out: The Gusties most recently came away with a 61-56 win in a tight game at Saint Benedict Saturday afternoon. The Gusties were led by Mikayla Miller (Jr., Goodhue, Minn.) who tallied a team-high 27 points.

In the polls: The Gusties moved up in the most recent Division III National rankings. In the D3hoops.com poll, Gustavus moved up from No. 16 to No. 13 and went from No. 21 to No. 20 WBCA Coaches Poll. In the regional rankings, the Gusties remain ranked No. 3 in the West.

Among the National Leaders: Out of 440 teams in NCAA Division III women’s basketball, Gustavus sits near the top in multiple statistical rankings. The 46.6 field goal percentage ranks fourth, the 78.5 free throw percentage ranks second, assists per game ranks seventh (18.0), and the 95.7 winning percentage is tied for sixth best. Miranda Rice (Jr., Forest Lake, Minn.) ranks ninth-best in the nation with a 58.6 field goal percentage. Mikayla Miller ranks among the top-50 in the country in assists, steals, and free throw percentage.

The Series: Wednesday’s contest marks the 56th all-time meeting between Gustavus and St. Catherine with the Gusties holding a 51-4 record over the Wildcats. The teams previously met Jan. 18 at Gus Young Court with Gustavus prevailing by a score of 83-76.

Scouting the Wildcats: St. Kate’s is currently riding a two-game win streak with wins over Concordia College and Saint Mary’s University last week. Offensively, the Wildcats rank within the top-five in scoring and each shooting category in the MIAC. They are led by junior guard Audra Clark, who ranks fifth in the MIAC with an average of 15.3 points per game. Senior LaShay Holt averages 14.9 point off the bench and leads with team with 9.2 rebounds a game, which is fourth best in the conference. Additionally, senior forward Mari Lee is the Wildcat’s top shooter, ranking fourth in the MIAC with a 55.2 field goal percentage and second with a 46.4 three-point field goal percentage.

Gustavus notables:

– Mikayla Miller continues to lead the Gusties, averaging 17.7 points per game – which ranks second highest in the MIAC. Miller leads the league with an 87.0 free throw percentage and 3.2 steals per game.

– Miranda Rice ranks third behind Miller in the MIAC, averaging 16.5 points per game. Rice also ranks second in the MIAC with in field goal percentage.

– Gustavus ranks first in the MIAC in points per game (75.8), field goal percentage (46.4), free throw percentage (78.5), assists per game (18.0), and steals per game (12.3).
