ST. PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s hockey team continues Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play with a series against Saint Mary’s University this weekend. The Gusties (11-5-3, 7-2-3 MIAC) host the Cardinals (5-12-2, 2-8-2 MIAC) Friday evening at Don Roberts Ice Rink and travel to Winona, Minn. Saturday afternoon.

Last Time Out: Last weekend, Gustavus hosted a series against Concordia College and won 5-0 Friday before ending in a 2-2 draw Saturday to earn three out of four points on the weekend. Erica Power (Jr., Lakeville, Minn.) tallied three points (2g-1a) to extend her point streak to six games and was honored as MIAC Women’s Hockey Athlete of the Week for her performance.

Series Snapshot: Friday’s game marks the 51st all-time meeting between the Gustavus and Saint Mary’s women’s hockey programs with the Gusties owning a 41-6-3 record over the Cardinals. Over the last five seasons, Gustavus holds a 10-1 record against Saint Mary’s. Last season, the two teams split a series with the Cardinals most recently defeating the Gusties 2-0 at Don Roberts Ice Rink.

About the Cardinals: Saint Mary’s split a series with No. 10 ranked Augsburg College a weekend ago, most recently winning 2-1 in Minneapolis to earn its second conference win of the season and push its overall record to 5-12-2. Junior forward Jamie Henderson leads the Cardinals in scoring with 14 points from nine goals and five assists, her nine goals ranking tied for fifth most in the MIAC.

400 Milestone: On December 3rd at the College of Saint Benedict, a 3-2 win marked the 400th all-time victory in Gustavus women’s hockey program history. The Gusties are the fastest team in the MIAC to reach the 400 mark.

Gustavus Notables:

– The Gusties earned their fifth shutout win of the season last Friday versus Concordia, winning 5-0.

Amanda DiNella (So., Oakbrook Terrace, Ill.) notched her fourth shutout of the season Friday, improving her record to 6-2-1 overall. DiNella ranks as one of the top goaltenders in the MIAC with a league-best 1.17 goals against average and a .700 win percentage. Her .937 save percentage also stands as second best.

– Erica Power tallied three points (2g-1a) against Concordia to extend her point streak to six games and was honored as MIAC Women’s Hockey Athlete of the Week.

– After setting a career-high with two goals versus St. Olaf Jan. 20, Emily Gustafson (Sr., Esko, Minn.) scored another two against Concordia on Friday.

Diana Draayer (Jr., Deephaven, Minn.) recorded three assists Friday to match a career-high. Kaitlyn Klein (Jr., Plymouth, Minn.) also picked up a career-high with two assists.

– Gustavus went undefeated in the month of January, posting a 5-0-2 record.
