Volleyball Hosts St. Thomas In MIAC Semifinal Match Tonight

After receiving the No. 2 seed for the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Playoffs with a 9-2 record in the league, the Gustavus volleyball team is set to host No. 3 St. Thomas tonight in a semifinal match. The Gusties had a bye with the No. 2 seed, while the Tommies defeated No. 6 Concordia 3-0 Tuesday to advance to the semifinals. Tonight’s match begins at 7 p.m.

Women’s Hockey Opens 20th Season At UW-Eau Claire

The Gustavus women’s hockey team is set to kick off its 20th season of play Saturday night at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

Holtan Headlines MIAC Volleyball Awards, Four Gusties Named All-Conference

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its 2016 Volleyball Awards on Wednesday and Gustavus took home four All-Conference awards, as well as the top honor of Player-of-the-Year. In just her sophomore campaign, Nora Holtan (Rochester, Minn.) earns MIAC Player-of-the-Year after a stellar season. Lauren Hanson (So., Redwood Falls, Minn.), Brittany Luethmers (So., Prior Lake, Minn.), and Taylor Trautman (Sr., Hutchinson, Minn.) join Holtan on the 2016 All-Conference Team, marking the third time in program history that four Gusties were selected.

Early Deficit Results In 2-1 MIAC Men’s Soccer Quarterfinal Loss To Augsburg

Two early goals by Augsburg College spelled defeat for the Gustavus men’s soccer team Tuesday in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Playoffs. The Gusties responded with one goal, but the score remained 2-1 for a final, ending Gustavus’s season at 7-9-1 overall.

Ackiss, Murakami Named October Student-Athletes-Of-The-Month

Senior women's soccer player Maddison Ackiss (Fairbanks, Alaska) and junior men’s soccer player Matt Murakami (Eden Prairie, Minn.) have been selected as the Gustavus Adolphus College October Female and Male Student-Athletes-of-the-Month, presented by Thrivent Financial and voted on by the Gustavus Sports Information Department.

Men’s Soccer Hosts Augsburg In MIAC Quarterfinal Tuesday

The Gustavus men’s soccer team secured the No. 3 seed in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Playoffs and is set to host No. 6 Augsburg at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the opening round. The Gusties enter the game with a 7-8-1 overall record and finished 6-3-1 in the MIAC, while Augsburg is 7-9-2 overall and went 4-4-2 league play.

Holtan Earns Fourth MIAC Volleyball Setter Of The Week Award

Gustavus star setter Nora Holtan (So., Rochester, Minn.) completed her spectacular regular season by winning her fourth MIAC Setter/Libero-of-the-Week award of the fall. She led her team to a 3-0 win over Hamline and a narrow 3-2 loss to Saint Mary's with 84 assists (10.50 per set), 26 digs, nine kills and three blocks. She had 30 assists, 10 digs, six kills and two blocks against the Pipers, and 54 assists, 16 digs, three kills and a block in a thriller against the Cardinals. Holtan's 9.87 assists-per-set leads the MIAC, and she's the only MIAC setter with more than 1,000 assists (1,115).

Men’s Hockey Splits At MIAC Showcase With 4-1 Win Over St. Olaf

The Gustavus men’s hockey team earned a split at the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Showcase on Saturday with a 4-1 victory over St. Olaf. Colin Hernon (Jr., Bloomington, Minn.) scored his second goal in as many days, while Russell Barone (Fy., Mohena, Ill.) netted his first collegiate goal soon after, which proved to be the game-winner.
