ST. PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s hockey team hosts the University of Wisconsin-Superior Tuesday evening for a non-conference weekday matchup.

The Gusties (2-3-1, 1-2-1 MIAC) host the Yellowjackets (4-4, 1-1 WIAC) at Don Roberts Ice Rink in St. Peter, Minn. at 7 p.m.

Last Time Out: Over the weekend, Gustavus and Augsburg College skated to a series split, swapping 1-0 scores each night. Friday in St. Peter, the Gusties prevailed with their first shutout of the season. Courtney Bethune tallied her first goal of the season and goaltender Amanda DiNella notched her first shutout of the 2016-17 campaign. Saturday, the Gusties were shutout for the first time at Augsburg.

Series Snapshot: Tuesday’s game marks the 22nd all-time meeting between the Gusties and UW-Superior. Gustavus owns a 13-5-3 record over UW-Superior and is 3-2-3 against the Yellowjackets over the past five seasons. Last season, the Gusties and the Yellowjackets skated to a 2-2 draw in Superior, Wis.

About the Yellowjackets: The University of Wisconsin-Superior has began its 2016-17 campaign owning a 4-4 overall record, recording a win and a loss last weekend as they opened league play in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Yellowjackets most recently lost by a score of 2-1 against the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and won 3-1 at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Junior forward Mikayla Goodin has led the Yellowjackets and is tied for the conference scoring lead with 10 points from seven goals and three assists in eight games played. Senior goaltender Kim Kobar has started four games in net and owns a 4-0 record, averaging 1.25 goals against.

Gustavus Notables:

– Gustavus is ranked second in the MIAC, allowing just 1.64 goals per game.

– Senior defender Courtney Bethune (Fort Frances, Ontario) tallied the game-winning goal in Friday’s win over Augsburg, which stood as her first goal since her freshman season in 2013-14.

– Sophomore goaltender Amanda DiNella (Oakbrook Terrace, Ill.) notched her first shutout of the season vs. Augsburg Friday. Her last shutout came last season against St. Catherine, Jan. 16, 2016.
