WINONA, Minn. – The Gustavus volleyball team ended the regular season Saturday with a five-set loss at Saint Mary’s. The Gusties lost by set scores of 21-25, 25-21, 23-25, 25-17, 12-15, dropping to 21-7 overall and 9-2 in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Gustavus now prepares for the MIAC Playoffs as the No. 2 seed and will host the winner of No. 3 St. Thomas and No. 6 Concordia on Thursday.

“Today was a tough battle with long rallies,” Head Coach Rachelle Sherden said. “It was a close one that went their way. We weren’t ourselves in serve receive and defense. We talked about how important our mindset is about getting better and having a sense of urgency each day in practice leading up to playoffs. We are super excited for next week and today made us hungrier.”

Taylor Trautman (Sr., Hutchinson, Minn.) led the Gustie offense with 29 kills and a .405 attack percentage. Nora Holtan (So., Rochester, Minn.) registered 54 assists along with 16 digs, while Brittany Luethmers (So., Prior Lake, Minn.) dug out 26 attacks.
