Cross Country Set For MIAC Championships

The Gustavus men’s and women’s cross country squads are set to travel to St. Paul, Minn. on Saturday to compete in the MIAC Championships at Como Golf Course.

ST. PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s and women’s cross country squads are set to travel to St. Paul, Minn. on Saturday to compete in the MIAC Championships at Como Golf Course.

The women are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m., followed by the men at noon.

In the latest Regional Team Rankings released October 18, the Gustie men rank No. 5 of 10 in the Central Region. Loras College and MIAC foe St. Olaf College sit atop of the Region.

Gustavus men and women most recently competed at the Jim Drews/Tori Neubauer Invitational on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse two weekends ago. The men took sixth of 20 squads while the women placed 14th of 22 teams.

A year ago at the MIAC Championships, the Gustie men scored 109 points to take a fifth place finish. Evan Jones (Sr., Pella, Iowa) and Thomas Knobbe (Sr., Decorah, Iowa) both finished in the top-20 out of 235 participants. The women scored 150 to post a sixth place finish and had two runners inside the top-20.
