Women’s Golf Takes 10th At Dan Quayle Classic
The Gustavus women’s golf team took 10th place out of 14 teams at the Dan Quayle Collegiate Classic on Sunday, carding a two-round total of 657 (+81). The Gusties shot a 332 on Saturday and a 325 on Sunday. Indiana Tech won the event with a 618, Wittenberg took second one stroke behind, and host DePauw placed third with a 632.
Women’s Golf In 10th Place After Day One At Dan Quayle Classic
The Gustavus women’s golf team sits in 10th place out of 14 teams after day one at the Dan Quayle Collegiate Classic, which took place at Deer Creek Golf Club on Saturday. The Gusties shot a 332, which is 32 strokes behind the leader Wittenberg University. Indiana Tech is in second place with a 312, while Illinois Wesleyan is in third, shooting a 318.
Men’s Soccer Ties St. Olaf 1-1
The Gustavus men’s soccer team played in its second straight overtime game Saturday, this time ending in a 1-1 draw against St. Olaf. The tie moves the Gusties to 1-6-1 overall and 0-1-1 in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Women’s Soccer Suffers First Loss Of Season, 3-1 At St. Olaf
The Gustavus women’s soccer team suffered its first loss of the season Saturday at St. Olaf by the score of 3-1, dropping to 4-1-1 overall and 1-1-0 in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The three goals against also marked the first goals scored against the Gusties all season.
Volleyball Wins A Pair At UW-Eau Claire Tournament
The Gustavus volleyball team competed in the UW-Eau Claire Invite on Saturday and came away with a pair of victories to improve to 10-2 overall. The Gusties opened the day with a shutout win over Lakeland and followed with a four-set win over Dominican.
Men’s Cross Country Takes Fifth of 20 Teams At St. Olaf Invite
The Gustavus men’s cross country team took fifth place out of 20 teams at the St. Olaf Invitational on Saturday, scoring 117 points. The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire won the event, Michigan Tech took second, and Minnesota-Duluth placed third. Host St. Olaf was in fourth place, 19 points ahead of Gustavus.
Women’s Cross Country Takes 11th of 23 At St. Olaf Invite
The Gustavus women’s cross country team took 11th place out of 23 teams at the St. Olaf Invitational on Saturday, scoring 371 points. Minnesota-Duluth took first, Carleton placed second, and host St. Olaf came in third.
Second Half Surge Propels Football To 35-13 Win Over Augsburg
Trailing 13-0 at halftime with only 79 total yards of offense, the Gustavus football team was in need of a spark. The momentum shifted in the home team’s favor on the first drive of the second half with a touchdown, which was followed by four more drives finishing in the endzone, resulting in a 35-13 win over Augsburg on Saturday afternoon. The victory propels the Gusties to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, while the Auggies drop to 0-3 overall and 0-1 in the league.
Men’s Soccer Looking To Rebound Saturday At St. Olaf
After a heartbreaking 1-0 overtime loss to No. 6-ranked Macalester on Wednesday, the Gustavus men’s soccer team is looking to rebound Saturday at St. Olaf College. The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match begins at 3:30 p.m. The Gusties enter the game with a 1-6-0 overall record and 0-1 mark in the MIAC, while the Oles are 2-1-2 overall and 0-0-1 in the league.
Volleyball Travels To UW-Eau Claire Saturday For Two Matches
After beating Bethel 3-2 in the first Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game of the 2016 season, the Gustavus volleyball team travels to Eau Claire, Wis. on Saturday to take on Lakeland and Dominican, both Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference teams, in a tournament hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. The Gusties enter the afternoon match against the Lakeland Muskies with an 8-2 overall record, while the Muskies are 5-2. The Dominican Stars have an overall record of 1-6. The Gusties play back-to-back matches, starting at 2 p.m. against the Muskies followed by a 4 p.m. match against the Stars.
