ST. PETER, Minn. – After a heartbreaking 1-0 overtime loss to No. 6-ranked Macalester on Wednesday, the Gustavus men’s soccer team is looking to rebound Saturday at St. Olaf College. The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match begins at 3:30 p.m. The Gusties enter the game with a 1-6-0 overall record and 0-1 mark in the MIAC, while the Oles are 2-1-2 overall and 0-0-1 in the league.

Gustavus’s overtime loss Wednesday came down to the wire as the Scots were able to score the game winner on a breakaway run, catching the keeper too far out of net. Seven games into the season, Luke Laurich (Fy., Batavia, Ill.) is the team’s leading scorer with five points on two goals and one assist. Anders Severson (So., Woodbury, Minn.) has seen the most time in goal, posting a 1.55 goals against average, .757 save percentage, and a 1-5-0 record.

St. Olaf opened MIAC play Wednesday against Bethel in St. Paul and played to a 2-2 draw. Kyle Leemon and Aaron Miller scored goals for the Oles. Ben Braman made five saves in net for St. Olaf. After five games this season, Miller leads the offense with five points on two goals and an assist. Braman has played every minute of every game in goal with a 1.08 goals against average and a .760 save percentage.
