Women’s Golf To Compete In College City Challenge

The Gustavus women’s golf team is headed to Hastings, Minn. this weekend to participate in the College City Challenge, hosted by Carleton College.

ST. PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s golf team is headed to Hastings, Minn. this weekend to participate in the College City Challenge, hosted by Carleton College.

The two-day event begins Saturday at 10:15 a.m. at Bellwood Oaks Golf Club. The final round begins Sunday at 9 a.m.

Last weekend Gustavus took 10th place out of 14 teams at the Dan Quayle Collegiate Classic on Sunday, carding a two-round total of 657 (+81). The Gusties shot a 332 on Saturday and a 325 on Sunday. Mae Meierhenry (Sr., Sioux Falls, S.D.) led the Gusties with a 14th place finish, scoring an 82 yesterday and improving to a 77 in the second round for a total of 159 (+15). Jessica Nelson (Jr., Plymouth, Minn.) was one stroke behind Meierhenry, shooting a 79-81-160. Kristen Cash (Fy., Roseville, Minn.) took 24th place with an 83-80-163, while Abbie Grevlos (Jr., Sioux Falls, S.D.) and McKenzie Swenson (Jr., Buffalo, Minn.) finished with identical scores of 177, tying for 61st place.

A year ago at the College City Challenge, the Black and Gold posted a fourth place finish. Mae Meierhenry tied or second place out of 74 golfers, shooting an 82 in round one, followed by a 76 on day two for a total of 158 (+12). As a team, the Gusties shot 330 in the first round and 325 in the second for a total of 655 (+71).
