BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s cross country team and senior star Thomas Knobbe (Sr., Decorah, Iowa) both started the 2016 season in style at the Crown Invite. Knobbe was the top Division III runner with a time of 26:46, and he finished second overall in the 80-runner field. The Gusties had similar success, finishing second in the five-team field. Both Knobbe and his team were second only to the University of Minnesota-Duluth, a Division II opponent. For his performance, Knobbe was named MIAC Men’s Cross Country Athlete-of-the-Week.
