Women’s Golf Finishes Tied For Fifth At CSB Invite

The Gustavus women’s golf team completed the final round of the College of Saint Benedict Invite Sunday, finishing tied for fifth place at their first outing of the fall campaign.

SARTELL, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s golf team completed the final round of the College of Saint Benedict Invite Sunday, finishing tied for fifth place at their first outing of the fall campaign.

As a team the Gusties turned in rounds of 337 and 321 at the par-72, 5,812-yard Blackberry Ridge Golf Course to tie for fifth place with 658 (+82).

Gustavus was led by Jessica Nelson (Jr., Plymouth, Minn.), who finished tied for eighth place. Nelson carded rounds of 82 and 78 to sit at 160 (+16).

Kristen Cash (Fy., Roseville, Minn.) played well during her first collegiate event, shooting scores of 83 and 80 (+19) to sit tied for 14th place. McKenzie Swenson (Jr., Buffalo, Minn.) finished not far behind Cash at 18th place. Swenson recored scores of 84 and 80 (+20).

“Jess had a great round today and Kristen put up another solid showing,” said Head Coach Scott Moe. “McKenzie played solid today as well, showing some of our depth.”

Next, the Black and Gold competes in the Eau Claire Invitational September 11-12.

“It’s a good starting point, we definitely have some areas of our game that we need to focus on heading into Eau Claire, but I’m pleased with today’s effort,” said Moe.
