Women’s Tennis Blanks Carleton 5-0 To Claim MIAC Playoff Title & National Tournament Bid

The Gustavus Adolphus College women’s tennis team is going dancing. A doubles sweep and two straight-set singles wins gave the Gusties a 5-0 victory over Carleton College on Saturday afternoon at the Bell Field Tennis Courts. The win clinches Gustavus its first conference playoff title since 2011, and the Gusties also earn an automatic bid to the 2016 NCAA Women’s Tennis Championships.

One Big Inning Proves Too Much To Overcome, Softball Ends Season With 5-3 Loss To Hamline

Much like in the opening game of the MIAC Softball Playoffs yesterday for Gustavus, the Gusties were unable to rebound after allowing a four-run inning, losing 5-3 to Hamline on Saturday in an elimination game. The Gusties finish the season 26-12 overall and finished second in the MIAC standings with a 17-5 league record.

Game-Tying Homer In The Seventh Robbed, Softball Falls To St. Kate’s 4-2 In MIAC Playoffs

The Gustavus softball team suffered a 4-2 loss to St. Catherine in the first round of the MIAC Playoffs on Friday evening. The game went down to the wire as Nathalee Boissiere (Sr., Plymouth, Minn.) came inches away from tying the game in the bottom the seventh as she drove a fly ball to deep center field, but Megan Lindenfelser robbed Boissiere of a two-run homer to end the game. The Gusties now face Hamline at 1:30 pm. tomorrow in an elimination game. The Pipers lost to the host Tommies 3-2 in 10 innings.

Men’s Tennis Rolls Into MIAC Playoff Championship With 9-0 Win Over Saint John’s

The Gustavus Adolphus College men’s tennis team began postseason play with a -- victory over Saint John's University in the MIAC Playoff Semifinals played Friday afternoon at the Swanson Tennis Center. The Gusties earned all three doubles points before taking -- of -- singles matches.

Ashley Krug Receives Outstanding Athletic Trainer Recognition Award

Gustavus Adolphus College athletic trainer Ashley Krug was recently honored with the Minnesota Athletic Trainers' Association's Outstanding Athletic Trainer Recognition Award. Krug was nominated for the award after the steps she took to provide care to Gustie women's hockey player Kaitlyn Klein who broke her neck during an early season game in Vermont.

Softball Begins MIAC Playoffs Friday Against St. Catherine

The Gustavus softball team kicks off MIAC postseason play today as it takes on St. Catherine. The No. 2 seeded Gusties and No. 3 seeded Wildcats play at 5 p.m. at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul. The Tommies won the regular season MIAC title and have earned the right to host the entire tournament.

Women’s Tennis Defeats St. Thomas 5-2 In Playoff Semifinal, Will Play Carleton In Final Saturday

After defeating the University of St. Thomas 8-1 less than two weeks ago, the Gustavus Adolphus women's tennis team was able to come through again on Thursday, defeating the Tommies 5-2 in the MIAC Playoff Semifinal that was played at the Brown Outdoor Tennis Complex. The win pushes the Gustie's overall record to 20-7 and they will now take on Carleton College in the MIAC Playoff Championship on Saturday afternoon in Northfield, Minn.

Kaitlyn Bicek Named To CoSIDA Academic All-District Softball Team

The 2016 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Softball Teams were released Thursday afternoon and Gustavus senior Kaitlyn Bicek (Northfield, Minn.) was named to the 13-member District 6 Team, which features student-athletes from Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. The CoSIDA Academic All-District Teams recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

Josh Chatfield Named To CoSIDA Academic All-District Baseball Team

Tennis Teams To Host MIAC Playoff Semifinals This Afternoon, Tomorrow

The Gustavus Adolphus College men's and women's tennis teams are set to host the MIAC Playoff Semifinals this afternoon and Friday afternoon at the Brown Outdoor Tennis Complex. The women, seeded No. 2, host No. 3-seeded University of St. Thomas on Thursday at 3:30 p.m., while the men, seeded No. 1, host No. 4-seeded Saint John's University on Friday at 3:30 p.m. Both matches will have live scoring available for fans wishing to follow the action.
