Kaitlyn Bicek Named To CoSIDA Academic All-District Softball Team Posted on May 5th, 2016 by

GREENWOOD, Ind. – The 2016 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Softball Teams were released Thursday afternoon and Gustavus senior Kaitlyn Bicek (Northfield, Minn.) was named to the 13-member District 6 Team, which features student-athletes from Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. The CoSIDA Academic All-District Teams recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

Bicek boasts a 3.90 GPA in athletic training and has started all 36 games at third base this season. The Northfield product has a .277 batting average with 31 hits, five doubles, two triples, one home run, and 13 RBI. Bicek has a slugging percentage of .384 and an on-base percentage of .328. She also has a team-leading 10 multiple hit games this season.

At third base, Bicek has recorded 40 putouts with 49 assists and just four errors for a fielding percentage of .957.

Bicek is a key member of a Gustie team that enters the MIAC Playoffs as the No. 2 seed. After sweeping Concordia in the final regular season series Tuesday, the Gusties won their eighth straight game to improve to 26-10 overall and 17-5 in the MIAC.

This year’s CoSIDA Academic All-District 6 Team includes three other members of MIAC institutions – Caroline Kivisto of Bethel, and Mary-Clare Couillard and Jamie Rubbelke of Hamline.

First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot, where first-, second-, and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
