Baseball Loses Shootout, Wins Pitcher’s Duel Against Saint Mary’s

It was a tale of two stories Wednesday on a cold and blustery day at the Gustie Baseball Field as Gustavus and Saint Mary’s split a MIAC doubleheader. The first game featured a combined 17 runs and 25 hits with the Cardinals winning the shootout 10-7. The second was highlighted by a pitcher’s duel, ending in the Gusties’ favor 3-2. Gustavus moves to 8-8 overall and 1-1 in the MIAC, while the Cardinals are now 13-9 overall and 1-3 in the league.

Krasaway Earns MIAC Men’s Golfer of the Week Honor

The Gustavus Adolphus College men's golf team spent the first three days of April in Camp LeJeune, N.C., to compete in the prestigious Camp LeJeune Gold Championship, which included many of the top teams in NCAA Division III. The Gusties - and especially senior Andrew Krasaway (Hermantown, Minn.) - certainly rose to the occasion, as the Gusties finished fifth out of 13 teams, led by Krasaway's 12th-place individual finish, as he shot 72 or better in each of the final two rounds. For his performance, the MIAC sports information directors honored Krasaway Wednesday with the first MIAC Men's Golf Athlete-of-the-Week award of the spring 2016 season.

UPDATE: Softball Vs. Hamline Postponed

The Gustavus softball team returns to conference play today as it travels to St. Paul to face Hamline for a doubleheader beginning at 3:30 p.m. The Gusties enter the contests with a 10-6 overall record and 1-1 mark in the MIAC, while the Pipers are 9-7 overall and 2-0 in the league.

Baseball Opens MIAC Play Today, Hosts Saint Mary’s

The Gustavus baseball team begins Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play today against Saint Mary’s at the Gustie Baseball Field. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 2:30 p.m. The Gusties enter the games with a 7-7 overall record, while the Cardinals at 12-8 overall and 0-2 in the league.

Alhouni, Schulz Sweep MIAC Tennis Athlete of the Week Honors

Gustavus Adolphus College tennis players Mohanad Alhouni (So., Tripoli, Libya) and Michaela Schulz (Jr., Elk River, Minn.) were honored Tuesday as the MIAC's Tennis Athletes of the Week as voted on by the league's sports information directors.

Annis Enjoys Wearing Multiple Hats

The schedule of a Division III head athletic coach is a hectic one. Daily practices, bi-tri weekly games, recruiting trips, and fundraising are just a few of the many tasks that each coach likely undertakes for their individual programs. However, Gustavus Adolphus College head softball coach Jeff Annis enjoys wearing multiple hats and doesn’t mind putting on a few more.

Baseball Sweeps Martin Luther In Home Opener

The Gustavus baseball team swept Martin Luther College on Monday in its home opener, winning by convincing scores of 12-2 and 9-2 to improve to 7-7 overall.

Hannah Heacox Named MIAC Softball Pitcher-Of-The-Week

The Gustavus softball team went 4-2 last week against tough competition, with three of the four wins coming courtesy of the pitching of Hannah Heacox (Stillwater, Minn.). The Gustie junior went 3-0 in four appearances with a 3.04 ERA and all three wins coming via complete games. She struck out 29 batters while allowing 10 runs on 16 hits and 12 walks in 23.0 innings pitched. For her performance the MIAC sports information directors honored Heacox Monday with the MIAC Softball Pitcher-of-the-Week award.

Baseball Hosts Martin Luther Today In Home Opener

After 12 games on the road to start the season, the Gustavus baseball team hosts its home opener at the Gustie Baseball Field today with a doubleheader against Martin Luther College. First pitch of the doubleheader is slated for 2:30 p.m.

Men’s Golf Finishes Fifth At Camp Lejeune Invite

The Gustavus Adolphus College men's golf team shot a 302 on the final day of the Camp Lejeune Invite being played at Paradise Point Golf Course, the second lowest score of the day for all competing teams.
