Thursday's rescheduled Gustavus baseball home doubleheader against Macalester has been postponed, again, to 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Gustie Baseball Field. Fans can follow online tomorrow with live stats.
Baseball And Softball Home Doubleheaders Wednesday Postponed
Due to expected rain throughout the day Wednesday, both the Gustavus baseball and softball home doubleheaders have been postponed. Baseball’s originally scheduled 2:30 p.m. game against Macalester has been postponed to tomorrow - same time and same place - while softball’s originally scheduled 3:30 p.m. game against St. Catherine has been postponed to Sunday, May 1 starting at 1 p.m.
Michaela Schulz Earns Third Women’s Tennis MIAC Athlete of the Week Honor
The Gustavus Adolphus College women's tennis team faced one of its toughest stretches last week, with matches against two teams that had only one MIAC loss, combined. However, the Gusties and junior star Michaela Schulz (Elk River, Minn.) rose to the challenge, scoring a pair of impressive 8-1 wins to lock up a MIAC Playoff bid with Schulz going 4-0 combined at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles. For her performance, the MIAC sports information directors honored Schulz Tuesday with her third MIAC Women's Tennis Athlete-of-the-Week award of the 2016 season.
Baseball Sweeps Martin Luther For Second Time This Season
The Gustavus baseball team on Monday swept Martin Luther College for the second time this season, defeating the Knights by scores of 5-2 and 9-1 to improve to 11-13 overall. Sam Archer (Fy., Zimmerman, Minn.) was the story of the day as he pitched a complete game two-hitter in the nightcap. Archer's pitching performance marked the second two-hitter by a Gustie this season.
Men’s Golf Earns Bobby Krig Invite Title
After entering the day five strokes back of first round leader University of St. Thomas, the Gustavus Adolphus College men's golf team clawed its way to the top of the leader board to earn the Bobby Krig Invitational championship on Monday at the Le Sueur Country Club. The Gusties scored a 285 in round two and a 287 in round three for a three-round total of 873, six strokes ahead of second place Bethel University.
Women’s Golf Takes Second At MNSU Spring Invite
The Gustavus Adolphus College women's golf team finished in second place at the Minnesota State University, Mankato Spring Invitational that took place at Bunker Hills Golf Course on Saturday and Sunday. The Gusties scored a 631, just five strokes behind first place Minnesota State.
Men’s Golf Tied For Third Following Day One Of Bobby Krig Invite
The Gustavus Adolphus College men's golf team is in a tie for third place following the first round of the Bobby Krig Invite, which was held at the Ridges at Sand Creek. The Gusties scored a 301, good for a tie with Bethel and just five strokes behind first place St. Thomas heading into tomorrow's second and final round.
Men’s Tennis Takes Down No. 37 Kalamazoo & Bethany Lutheran
The Gustavus Adolphus College men's tennis team earned two non-conference victories on Sunday morning, including a 7-2 defeat of nationally-ranked No. 37 Kalamazoo College in Elkhorn, Wis. and the other a 9-0 win over Bethany Lutheran College at the Brown Outdoor Tennis Complex. With the pair of wins, the Gusties move to 21-7 overall heading into their final regular season match next Saturday.
Women’s Tennis Earns Big Win Over Defending Playoff Champ St. Thomas 8-1
The Gustavus Adolphus College women's tennis team maintained its perfect record in conference play on Sunday, taking down defending MIAC Playoff Champion University of St. Thomas 8-1 in a match played at the Brown Outdoor Tennis Complex. The win moves the Gusties to 16-6 overall and 7-0 in conference play, while the Tommies suffer their first conference loss and only their second overall defeat of the season to move to 13-2 and 7-1.
Track & Field Teams Host Lee Krough Invite
The Gustavus Adolphus College men's and women's track and field teams hosted the annual Lee Krough Invite on Saturday at the Gustavus Track & Field Complex. Thirteen teams competed in the meet, including Division II and III institutions from around the state.
