MONTICELLO, Minn. – One day after senior Andrew Krasaway tied the Gustavus record for lowest individual round in school history, he and his Gustie teammates earned their third consecutive meet championship by taking the Saint John’s University title, which finished at the Monticello Country Club on Sunday. The Gusties finished with a three-round total of 859, four strokes ahead of second place University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

“Another great win this weekend for the guys,” said Coach Scott Moe. “I can’t say enough about how hard they fought the entire weekend. I could tell there was no way they were going to let anybody catch them. Krash had a very special weekend and it was exciting to be a part of it. Every player made significant contributions and that is what team golf is all about.”

After his record-tying Saturday, Krasaway led the team again on Sunday by scoring a 71 in each of the final two rounds. The Hermantown product finished with a three-round total of 207 (-7), which was good for individual medalist honors.

Max Savini and Andrew Brandt were next, as each tallied three-round totals of 218 to tie for 13th place. Savini notched rounds of 73 and 72, while Brandt scored a 70 and 75.

Chris Captain and Alec Aunan rounded out the Gustie lineup, with Captain tying for 21st with second day rounds of 76 and 71, while Aunan tied for 25th with Sunday scores of 75 and 72.

The Black and Gold’s continued spring success pushed them closer to earning an at-large bid to the NCAA Championships that will take place May 10-13. Gustavus has won three of its four meets this spring, including titles at the Augsburg Invite, Bobby Krig Invite, and this weekend’s SJU Invite. The NCAA Championship field will be announced on Monday, May 2.

The Gusties are back in action on Sunday, May 1 when they finish their spring regular season with a dual meet against the University of St. Thomas at Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan, Minn. That meet is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m.
