Men’s Tennis Falls To No. 11 Pomona-Pitzer 7-2

Taking on its third nationally-ranked opponent in the past five days, the Gustavus Adolphus College men's tennis team dropped a 7-2 Friday decision to No. 11 Pomona-Pitzer in Pomona, Calif. The defeat drops the No. 19 Gusties to 11-2 overall heading into their final matches of the Stag-Hen Invite on Saturday, which is being played at Claremont-Mudd Scripps.

Sam Fischer Takes 15th In Weight Throw At NCAA Championships

Gustavus men’s track & field throwing specialist Sam Fischer (Sr., Sauk Centre, Minn.) took 15th place in the weight throw Friday at the NCAA Championships, hosted by Grinnell College. Fischer posted a mark of 16.38 meters (53-9) on his first toss, and could not better his throw in the next two attempts.

Sarah Swanson Named MIAC Women’s Indoor Field Athlete-Of-The-Year

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its indoor track and field awards Thursday and Gustavus throw specialist Sarah Swanson (Sr., Fairbanks, Alaska) was named Women’s Field Athlete-of-the-Year. Swanson becomes the first Gustie to earn the award since Janey Helland in 2011.

Tennis Teams Headed To California, Texas This Weekend

The Gustavus Adolphus College men's and women's tennis teams will each be competing out of state this weekend, as the men's squad will travel to Ponoma, Calif. to take part in the Sagehen Invite at Pomona-Pitzer College on Friday and Saturday, while the women head to San Antonio to compete in the Trinity University Invite Saturday through Monday.

Fischer, Swanson Set To Compete At NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships This Weekend

Gustavus track & field throwing specialists Sarah Swanson (Sr., Fairbanks, Alaska) and Sam Fischer (Sr., Sauk Centre, Minn.) have qualified for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, which takes place Friday and Saturday at Grinnell College’s Bear Athletic Center in Grinnell, Iowa. Swanson will compete in the shot put after winning the MIAC title last week, while Fischer will compete in the weight throw after claiming the conference crown as well.

Saenz, Aney Earn MIAC Tennis Athlete Of The Week Honors

Gustavus Adolphus College men’s and women’s tennis players Andres Saenz (Sr., Cancun, Mexico) and Katie Aney (So., Rochester, Minn.) were honored by the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference as the league's tennis athletes of the week as chosen by the league’s sports information directors on Tuesday.

Chris Amsden Named To MIAC Men’s Hockey All-Rookie Team

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its men’s hockey postseason awards Monday and Gustavus is represented by first-year goaltender Chris Amsden (St. Peter, Minn.) as a member of the All-Rookie Team.

Men’s Tennis Takes Down No. 34 DePauw 7-2

For the second time in as many days, the Gustavus Adolphus College men's tennis team took on a nationally-ranked opponent. However, on Sunday the result was a different one, as the Gusties defeated No. 34 DePauw University 7-2 at Pleasant Valley Tennis Club. The win came less than 24 hours after No. 18 Gustavus fell to No. 16 UW-Whitewater in a tough 5-4 defeat and moved the Gusties' overall record to 11-1.
