Final Results

MINNEAPOLIS – The Gustavus Adolphus College men’s swimming and diving team moved up one spot on the final day of the MIAC Championships at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center. After being in fifth place after yesterday’s final results, the Gusties passed Carleton College today, finishing with a score of 498 compared to the Knights’ 476. The University of St. Thomas earned the meet championship with a score of 932.5, while Saint John’s University and St. Olaf College rounded out the top-three with 527 and 502.5 points, respectively.

Tanner Sonnek (Fy., North Mankato, Minn.) led the way for the Gusties on the final day of competition. The first-year took first place in the 200 Breaststroke with a finals time of 2:04.06. Teammate Jacob Stern (Sr., Rosemount, Minn.) was also a top four finisher in the 200 Breaststroke, taking fourth with a time of 2:08.33.

The 400 Free relay team of Jeff Nelson (Sr., Maple Grove, Minn.), Stern, Seth Berry (So., Bloomington, Minn.), and Adam Peters (Sr., Montevideo, Minn.) were also a key finisher for the Black and Gold on day three, taking fourth with a 3:10.17.

Rounding out the Gustie scoring on the meet’s final day was Nelson who took eighth in 100 Free with a 47.36 and Carson Scholberg (Fy., Apple Valley, Minn.) and Jonathan Bovee (Fy., Farmington, Minn.) who took fifth and sixth place, respectively in the three meter dive with scores of 357.40 and 342.05, respectively.
