Women’s Golf Ties For Fifth At D3 Classic

LAKE CITY, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s golf team competed at the D3 Classic on Saturday and Sunday at the Jewel Golf Club and came away tied for fifth place out of 17 teams with a score of 670 (+94). The Gusties shot a 330 in the first round and a 340 in the second.

Carleton College won the event with a two-round total of 622. The University of St. Thomas took second at 629 and St. Catherine University took third at 637.

“We couldn’t get into a good rhythm at all this weekend,” Head Coach Scott Moe said. “One day we started poorly and the second day we finished poorly. We need to clean things up this week before the Carleton tourney in Hastings. Looking forward to another competition.”

Mae Meierhenry (Jr., Sioux Falls, S.D.) led the Gusties with a score of 165 (+21). Meierhenry finished in a tie for 16th after shooting a first round score of 81 and 84 in the second.

McKenzie Swenson (So., Buffalo, Minn.) tied for 20th with a score of 82-84-166, Jessica Nelson (So., Wayzata, Minn.) tied for 25th at 82-86-168, Ellie Brandt (Fy., Wayzata, Minn.) tied for 31st at 85-86-171 and Emilie Anderson (Sr., Osceola, Wis.) tied for 58th at 92-91-183. Chloe Altmann (Sr., Olivia, Minn.) played as an individual and finished tied for 27th with a score of 85-85-170.

The Gusties next meet is Sept. 26-27 at the Small College Classic, played at Bellwood Oaks in Hastings, Minn.
