SARTELL, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus men’s golf team scored a 308 and is tied for fifth place out of 20 teams following the first round of the Saint John’s Invitational at Blackberry Ridge Golf Course. Host Saint John’s University and the University of St. Thomas are tied for first place after both scoring 297.

“We got off to a slow start today and didn’t play consistent golf,” said assistant coach Randy Stuckey. “We had some good holes but then gave shots back to the course.”

Chris Captain (So., Rochester, Minn.) led the Gusties with a two-over 74 to tie for eighth. Andrew Krasaway (Sr., Hermantown, Minn.) was next with a 76 (T-22), followed by Max Savini (Fy., Anoka, Minn.) and Alec Aunan (So., Rock Island, Ill.), both with a 79 (T-44), and Matt Rastetter (So., Maple Grove, Minn.) with an 80 (T-54).

Ryan Gallagher of Saint John’s leads all golfers with a one-under 71.

“Our goal tomorrow is to take what was positive in our round today and bring to the round Sunday,” said Stuckey.

Round two will be played Sunday at Greystone Golf Course in Sauk Centre, Minn.
