EAU CLAIRE, WIS. – The Gustavus Adolphus men’s golf team sits in seventh place out of 18 teams following round one of the Frank Wrigglesworth Invitational at Wild Ridge Golf Course. The Gusties tallied a stroke count of 311, just eight strokes behind Augsburg College, which leads the field.

“The course played tough today,” said Coach Scott Moe. “That is usually when we play our best, but today was not one of those days.”

Matt Rastetter (So., Maple Grove, Minn.) led Gustavus on the day with a 74 (+2), good for a tie for seventh place, but is entered in the tournament as an individual player and does not count toward the team score. Max Savini (Fy., Anoka, Minn.) was the Gustie team leader with a 75 (+3) and is tied for 14th place. Next was Chris Captain (So., Rochester, Minn.) with a 76 (T-19th). Matt Spier (Sr., Prior Lake, Minn.) was next with a 77, but was also entered as an individual. Spier was followed by Andrew Krasaway (Sr., Hermantown, Minn.) who scored a 79 (T-39th), while Alec Aunan (So., Rock Island, Ill.) rounded out the Gustie lineup with a 81 (T-51st).

“We’ll be looking to come out at Eau Claire Country Club tomorrow and have a great day,” said Moe. “We’re certainly not out of this and well within striking distance. I look forward to solid play and finishing strong tomorrow.”
