Jordy Drenttel shot a 155 (+11) at the Carleton Invite to lead Gustavus and finish in a tie for third individually.

NORTHFIELD, MINN. – The Gustavus Adolphus women’s golf team concluded its weekend of play at the Carleton Invite with a third place finish after scoring a 318 on the tournament’s final day to finish with an overall score of 647 (+71). Tournament champion University of St. Thomas finished just four strokes ahead of the Gusties with a 643, while second place Carleton College was three ahead with a 644.

“I’m really pleased with the improvement of our team score today,” said assistant coach Randy Stuckey. “Only Stout beat our team score and with our improvement [of 11 shots], we were able to pass two schools to finish third.”

“It was a beautiful day for some great competition,” added Jordy Drenttel (Sr., Inver Grove Heights, Minn.). “I’m proud of the way my teammates rallied today and I’m glad we were able to make up some ground against a tough field. We’re looking forward to our next tournament in Eau Claire and making a final push for nationals!”

Drenttel led the Gusties over the course of the tournament, as her second day total of 79 gave her a total score of 155 (+11), good for a tie for third in the individual standings. Lauren Johnson (Sr., Plymouth, Minn.) was next in line for the Black and Gold with a 162 (T-11th place). Jessica Nelson (Fy., Wayzata, Minn.), who was entered in the tournament as an individual player, scored a 163 to finish in 13th place in the 54-player tournament.

“It was fun to see Jordan Drenttel find a way to score well this weekend and finish third,” said Stuckey. “It’s nice to see her play well as she approaches the end of her senior year.”

Gustavus will return to the course next weekend, when it will head to Eau Claire, Wisconsin to compete in the UW-Eau Claire Invitational.
