Normal, Ill. – The Gustavus Adolphus women’s golf team currently sits in fifth place in a field of 19 teams after day one of the Illinois Wesleyan Spring Fling Invitational at Ironwood Golf Course. Saturday’s first round saw the Gusties shoot a 313 (+25), 12 strokes behind the leader, Washington University, St. Louis, who totaled a 301 (+13).

Gustavus was led by first-year McKenzie Swenson (Fy., Saint Louis Park, Minn.) who shot a 74 (+2) and is tied for fourth place overall. Mae Meierhenry (So., Sioux Falls, S.D.) followed Swenson with a 79 (+7) and is tied for 20th overall, while Sam Falk (Sr., Glenwood, Minn.) and Lauren Johnson (Sr., Plymouth, Minn.) are right behind her as each scored an 80 (+8) and are tied for 28th overall.

Gustavus will tee off in tomorrow’s final round at 9 a.m.
