Men’s Golf Heads Back On The Road For Augustana Invite

St. Peter, Minn. – After opening up its spring season with a pair of outings in the Southeastern United States, the Gustavus Adolphus men’s golf team will stick with the road theme by making the trek to Rock Island, Illinois to compete in the Augustana College (Ill.) Invitational.  The Augustana Invite will be held on Friday, April 10 and Saturday, April 11 at the Pinnacle Country Club.

The Gusties will be back in action after competing in a dual against Flagler College on April 3 in Ponte Vedra Beach, Floria and  the Emory University Invitational on April 6-7 in Adairsville, Georgia.  The Gusties fell to Flagler 297-283 and finished eighth with a 623 (+19) at the Emory Invite.

Matt Spier (Jr., Prior Lake, Minn.) led the way against Flagler with a second place finish after shooting a three-under 69.  Chris Captain (Fr., Rochester, Minn.) paced the Gusties in Adairsville with a 25th place finish after carding an 82-73–155 (+11).

The Gustavus men’s golf team will look to improve on its seventh place showing at this event last season.  The Gusties shot back-to-back 315s to finish the meet with a 630 (+54).  Andrew Brandt (Jr., Medina, Minn.) and Andrew Krasaway (Jr., Hermantown, Minn.) were in last year’s lineup and finished 31st with a 158 (+14) and 46th with a 163 (+19), respectively.
