The Gustavus men's and women's swimming and diving teams have earned Scholar All-American Team honors by the CSCAA.
St. Peter, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams have been recognized by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) for their efforts in the classroom. Once again this year, both the men’s and the women’s squads were honored as CSCAA Scholar All-America Teams.
Founded in 1922, the College Swimming Coaches Association of America is the oldest professional organization of college coaches in America. The CSCAA is dedicated to serving and providing leadership for the advancement of the sport of swimming and diving at the collegiate level.
The team Scholar All-American award is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams, who have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The award is presented twice annually, once in the fall semester/term and in the semester/term of the NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships (Winter/Spring).
The Gustavus women earned the honor with a cumulative team grade point average of 3.32. The Gustie men took home the honor with a team GPA of 3.07.
The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) was represented on both the men’s and women’s Scholar All-America Teams by a total of eight of the league’s institutions. On the women’s side, a total of seven schools including Carleton (3.37), Hamline (3.20), Macalester (3.39), Saint Benedict (3.43), St. Catherine (3.47), and St. Olaf (3.23) were recognized. The MIAC was represented on the men’s side by Carleton (3.25), Saint John’s (3.39), and Gustavus.
A total of 108 NCAA Division III women’s programs and 71 men’s programs were recognized by the CSCAA, the oldest organization of college swimming coaches in America.
