Sioux City, Iowa – The Gustavus Adolphus men’s swimming and diving team registered 406 points to finish fourth at the Morningside College Mustang Invitational held Saturday, Nov. 15. Host Morningside won the meet with a score of 812.5. Iowa Lakes Community College placed second with a 787, and Nebraska Wesleyan University took third with a 512.5.

Leading the Black and Gold with three finishes inside the top eight was Dakota Vininski (Fr., Faribault, Minn.). Vininski placed sixth in both the 200 freestyle (1:59.63) and 500 freestyle (5:24.64), and added an eighth place performance in the 200 backstroke (2:22.06).

Andy Olson (Jr., Elk River, Minn.) turned in the team’s top individual performance of the afternoon with a fourth place showing in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:51.16. Olson also added a sixth place finish in the 200 backstroke in 2:17.90.

Other top Gustie swimmers included Tommy Panetti (Sr., Bloomington, Minn.), Eli Sciammas (Fr., Pleasanton, Calif.), Isaac Lange (Fr., Aurora, Minn.), and Dave Brazel (So., Bloomington, Minn.). Panetti finished seventh in the 400 IM (5:00.45), Sciammas took eighth in the 500 free (5:29.01), Lange came in eighth in the 200 IM (2:22.15), and Brazel took eighth in the 400 IM (5:01.78).

The Gusties will dive back into action next Saturday, Nov. 22 when they host the Grace Goblirsch Invitational at 1:00 p.m. at the Vic Gustafson Pool.
