St. Peter, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus men’s soccer team will begin a new week with a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference test against the Cardinals of Saint Mary’s University on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 4:00 p.m. on the Gustie Soccer Field.  The Gusties come in with an overall record of 8-3-0 and an MIAC mark of 2-1-0 after suffering a 1-0 double-overtime loss to Saint John’s at home last Saturday.  Saint Mary’s enters with an overall record of 3-4-1 and an MIAC mark of 0-3-0 following a 4-0 loss to St. Thomas on Saturday in Winona.

“I have a lot of respect for the Saint Mary’s coach Pete Watkins.  He’s a nice guy who certainly gets all he can out of the players he has at his disposal,” said Head Coach Mike Middleton.  “They are well organized, they work hard and they try to play.  This should be a good match.  Saint Mary’s has been getting more and more competitive since the arrival of the coach, and it is certainly a team that has to be respected.”
