Le Sueur, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus men’s golf team began its 2014 fall season with a 286-296 loss to Minnesota State University, Mankato in a dual held Wednesday afternoon at the Le Sueur Country Club.  MSU, Mankato’s Ross Miller took home medalist honors with a two-under-par 68, while Gustavus’s Matt Rastetter (Fr., Maple Grove, Minn.), and Mavericks Michael Green Greenberg and Michael Oberg all finished in a tie for second with 72s (+2).

The Black and Gold’s top four scored players included Danny Cameron (Sr., Bloomington, Minn.) in fifth with a 73 (+3), Chris Captain (Fr., Rochester, Minn.) in eighth with a 74 (+4), and Marcus Holmberg (Jr., Marshall, Minn.) in 11th with a 77 (+7).  MSU, Mankato’s Gonzalo Metz and Kelton Schmitz also fired 73s (+3) to match Cameron in fifth.

The Gustavus men’s golf team will now head into tournament play when it travels to Ham Lake to take part in the Augsburg College Invitational being held at Majestic Oaks Golf Club on Saturday and Sunday.
