Delaware, Ohio – Gustavus Adolphus track and field athletes Elizabeth Weiers (Jr., Le Center, Minn.) and Cameron Clause (Sr., Mankato, Minn.) capped off the 2014 school year at the 2014 NCAA Division III Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships held May 22-24 Selby Stadium/George Gauthier Track on the campus of Ohio Wesleyan University.
Just one day after being named the female recipient of the Elite 89 award for the 2014 NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships, Elizabeth Weiers followed up earning one of the NCAA’s highest academic honors with a 13th place finish in the hammer throw. Weiers, who ranked 19th heading into the competition, recorded a toss of 165-feet. For her 13th place effort, Elizabeth earns a place on the All-America Honorable Mention Team.
Cameron Clause rounded out Gustavus’s competitors in this year’s national meet with a 17th place finish in the decathlon after scoring 6,335 points. Of the decathlon events held over the course of the weekend, Clause’s top performance came in the long jump where he took first with a leap of 22-feet 1.5-inches. He also made the top 10 in the pole vault, placing eighth with a height of 13-feet 9.25-inches. Cameron’s other finishes included 12th in the 110-meter hurdles (15.91), 100-meter dash (11.40), and high jump (6’ 0.5”), 14th in the discus (108’), 15th in the 1,500-meter run (4:51.40), 17th in the javelin (130’ 2”), 18th in the 400-meter dash (52.74), and 20th in the shot put (31’ 10.25”).
