Eau Claire, Wis. – The Gustavus women’s golf team sits eighth after the opening round of the Blugold Spring Invitational on Saturday at Wild Ridge Golf Course. The Gusties recorded a team total of 355 (+63) and trail Carleton, Saturday’s leader, by 26 strokes. Sunday’s final round tees off at 8:30 a.m.
For the second weekend in a row, Jordan Drenttel (Jr., Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) turned in the lowest round on the opening day. The junior shot a 12-over-par 85 to tie for 14th after one day of competition.
Lauren Johnon (Jr., Plymouth, Minn.) was the next Gustie to finish. Johnson turned in a 15-over-par 88 to tie for 23rd, while Sam Falk (Jr., Glenwood, Minn.) followed with a 16-over-par 89 and is tied for 25th.
